They are hunting for a sensation. Then they carry the game

Sergey Grinevetsky, the newspaper "FACES"At the end of October this year, another scandal broke out in the media of Ukraine and the Dnipropetrovsk region.

They say that officials of the Krivoy Rog branch of the Dnipropetrovsk regional Bureau of Forensic Medical Examinations (KO DOBSME) illegally seized anatomical materials from deceased people. Moreover, in pursuit of a sensation, journalists confused "God's gift with scrambled eggs." Some publications wrote that organs were illegally cut out from the corpses for implantation, in connection with which a criminal case was initiated against officials of the DOBSME.

False messages to someone can be very usefulActually, the Law of Ukraine "On Transplantation of organs and other anatomical materials of a person" defines bioimplants as medical devices made from anatomical materials of the deceased.

In other words, we are not talking about transplanting, say, a liver from a deceased to a healthy person.

According to some reports, employees of the Kryvyi Rih police, most likely with the filing of one business structure, which is slightly lower, conducted a survey of relatives and relatives of about 40 deceased, from whom body fragments were taken.

As a result, seven Krivoy Rog residents wrote statements that written permits to take anatomical materials from their deceased relatives were taken "by coercion and deception" and when they were under stress.

Further, in mid-October, the Prosecutor's office of Krivoy Rog opened a criminal case on the fact of abuse of official position and removal of organs and tissues from corpses by coercion or deception of relatives for the purpose of their transplantation.

This was followed by the seizure of all (!) documentation in the Krivoy Rog SME and an attempt to do the same in the Kiev State Scientific and Production Enterprise (GNPP) "Bioimplant", the only one in Ukraine that is engaged in the production of bioimplants. The latter quite logically showed a figure of three fingers, after which the prosecutor's office left without much slurping. The fact is that the activity of "Bioimplant" is completely unrelated to transplantation, but exclusively with the production of medical devices.

By and large, the death of a loved one is always stressful. Alas, it is necessary to ask relatives for permission to take anatomical materials that ultimately treat and prolong the life of sick people during the most vulnerable period for relatives.

The head of the health department of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration, Valentina Ginzburg, is convinced that the "hit-and-run" on the Krivoy Rog SME was inspired by someone. And the "coercion" of relatives during their stress can be compared with the appointment of an operative surgical intervention to a patient: "For example, an urgent operation is required, which requires the consent of the patient or his relatives. And after, say, a month, the operated person can say that he gave consent under the influence of stress, which is inherent in any seriously ill person. I have already expressed my opinion to the competent authorities."

Meanwhile , conducted by a journalistThe investigation revealed a more prosaic motive for initiating a criminal case.

Funeral business is perhaps the only very profitable business that is not afraid of any cataclysms and financial crises. In Krivoy Rog, five (!) funeral structures, by definition interested in organizing funerals, are located around the SME department and the morgue. The former head of the forensic examination preferred the state of emergency "Maple", whose representative was even directly in the room. In other words, when receiving a death certificate, relatives were faced with condolences and offers of comprehensive assistance in organizing the funeral of only one funeral service.

After at the end of 2004, the newly appointed head of the DOBSME, Alexander Komolov, banned any of the ritualists from being in the premises of his department, threats by phone followed.

In the summer of 2005, they took on a very real shape. On a July morning, Alexander Yuryevich was met on the landing by an unknown person with a folded newspaper in his hand. Casually asking the expert about the location of an apartment, he struck him a hard blow with a newspaper containing a piece of steel pipe. The unconscious Komolov had his legs broken and simulated a robbery, scattering his documents on the stairs. The attacker, of course, was not found.

After lying in a hospital bed for more than two months, Komolov did not give up.

Having no concrete evidence, the author of these lines in no way can accuse the state of emergency "Maple" of organizing the attack (although, as a well-known anecdote says, "the sediment remained"), as well as support the prosecution's accusation of illegal coercion and deception of relatives by the SME.

Nevertheless, it is quite possible to assume that the "hit-and-run" on the Krivoy Rog SME of law enforcement officers is connected with a certain order in order to eliminate the intractable head of the SME, but not because of mythical compulsions.

The dead have no shameAt the beginning of the last decade of the twentieth century, for the first time people started talking about implantology as a science that arose on the border of transplantology and modern high-tech medical industry.

Thanks to modern technologies, the tissues of the deceased are transformed into a high-quality and safe bioimplant for the patient, which allows restoring the health of patients and the disabled.

Restoration of organs and tissues with bioimplants made from tissues of the musculoskeletal system, heart and vascular valves, skin, cornea of the deceased is often the most effective way to restore working capacity.

In Ukraine, back in Soviet times, taking the tissues of the deceased for medicinal purposes was commonplace. In Kiev, Kharkiv, Donetsk, Lviv, at blood transfusion stations and as part of specialized research institutes, there were special departments for harvesting the tissues of the deceased. Until 1989, there was no need, and no opportunity, to thoroughly examine the tissues of the deceased for any infections. Laboratory specialists preserved the tissues in various ways and transferred them to medical and preventive institutions.

But then AIDS, viral hepatitis C, Jakob-Kreutzfeld disease appeared, and donor tissues became very dangerous for patients. Therefore, in the early 90s, despite the huge need and important practical importance, this direction in Ukrainian medicine was curtailed due to the lack of modern technologies and appropriate funding.

The resumption of bioimplantation became possible only on the basis of scientific and practical cooperation with the world leaders of this industry. The Law of Ukraine "On Organ Transplantation of the first anatomical materials of people" (1999) regulates the manufacture of bioplants from anatomical materials of deceased citizens by several articles. Now in Ukraine there is a presumption of disagreement to be a donor, therefore, according to Article 6 of the Law "About the funeral certificate", consent to the removal of anatomical materials from a cadaver donor is possible only if there is written consent from the deceased during his lifetime or from his relatives after death. Such a model exists in the USA, Canada, Germany, France, Italy and other countries.

In the legislation of Belgium, Austria, Spain, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Great Britain - on the contrary, there is a presumption of consent.

Who wants, he canAccording to the American Association of Tissue Banks, if a person decides to become a donor during his lifetime or his relatives decide so after his death, then implants made from his tissues will help restore health to 50-75 patients.

Every year from 500 to 600 thousand US citizens receive medical care using bio-implants.

In Ukraine, more than 1,500 patients with the use of bioimplants operate in 65 clinics every year.

According to the Coordination Center for Organ, Tissue and Cell Transplantation of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and the Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics of the National Academy of Medical Sciences, domestic medical institutions require more than 4.5 thousand bone, bone and tendon bioimplants, 5 thousand corneal bioimplants, about 500 bioimplants of cardiac and vascular valves per year.

Every year, with the help of bioimplants, in particular, tutoplast, literally more than 800 sick and disabled people get on their feet.

And now about transplantation, actually, organ transplantation. The international magazine "Transplant" published statistics of organ transplantation in 55 countries of the world for 2007. It follows from the report that Peru is in the first place in terms of refusals of relatives, where, apparently due to the strong influence of Catholicism, in 80% of cases relatives of the deceased refuse to donate their organs for transplantation. Israel ranks second in organ transplant refusals (in 57.5% of cases, doctors offering transplantation are refused) among 22 countries that provided data on this indicator. The situation is best in Hungary, where doctors are rejected only in 8.6% of cases.

This indicator is worst in Romania and El Salvador, where there are 0.5 donors for every million people. The largest number of donors in 2007 was in Estonia - 26 for every million people, and in Spain - 36 donors for every million people.

Apparently, the percentage of consent to the extraction of organs of the deceased for the manufacture of bioimplants, as well as organ transplantation from the deceased to the living to prolong life, will increase significantly in Catholic countries. Within three days, from November 6 to 8 this year, the International Congress "Gift for Life" was held under the patronage of the Vatican. Questions of organ donation", in which the issues of organ and tissue donation as a gift and altruism necessary for the subsequent treatment of many people were discussed. About 300 participants of the congress were received at the residence of Pope Benedict XVI, where he made a speech in support of doctors whose activities are related to organ and tissue donation.

The Pope said: "Tissue and organ transplantation represents a great victory of medical science and is a symbol of hope for many dying patients or survivors of clinical death."

What will the prosecutor's office of Krivoy Rog say to this?
