Anti-wrinkle medicine from the customer's material

Cellular Anti-wrinkle drug approved for sale in the USA
Copper newsA cellular anti-wrinkle drug developed by the American company Fibrocell Science has been approved by US regulatory authorities, AFP reports (US approves cell therapy injection for wrinkles).

According to the manufacturer, laViv is the first such drug registered by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The peculiarity of laViv is that the drug is made for each specific customer from the cells of its connective tissue – fibroblasts. These cells synthesize the extracellular matrix – the collagen framework that forms the basis of connective tissue, supports other cells and provides transport of nutrients.

A small amount of fibroblasts taken from the client is sent to the laboratory, where millions of similar cells are grown on their basis. This process takes about three months. After receiving a sufficient number of fibroblasts, they are injected directly into the area of the skin covered with wrinkles.

421 volunteers participated in the laViv clinical trials, each of whom received three series of injections of the drug or placebo at intervals of five weeks. Studies have confirmed the safety of the drug and its effectiveness against wrinkles in the nasolabial fold.
