No conversation about the medicine of the future is complete without mentioning stem cells. And although their use is limited so far, companies are already rushing to offer services for their collection and storage.

One of these companies is Forever Labs, founded in 2015. Now the startup cooperates with specialized clinics that help extract stem cells from the bone marrow of patients, and then freezes them indefinitely. The new service, which Business Insider talks about, promises to make the removal of stem cells much less traumatic.

Starting this week, Forever Labs offers customers to freeze stem cells from adipose tissue. It is extracted by plastic surgeons during liposuction. Usually such fat is thrown away, but the company considers it a valuable resource for the creation of stem cells.

The new approach is not only safer, but also cheaper. Forever Labs charges $2,500 for the removal of stem cells from bone marrow, while collecting cells from adipose tissue will cost $1,000.

The cost of storage will not change at the same time – $ 250 per year.

Forever Labs hopes that in the future technologies will allow the use of such stem cells to prolong people's lives. And the reserve created in advance guarantees health and a long life. In particular, stem cells could be used to fight diabetes and cancer or grow new organs to replace the affected ones.

New research gives hope that stem cells will be used more and more widely in the foreseeable future. Only recently have scientists used them to fight liver diseases, muscle injuries and Parkinson's disease.
