Immortality is an expensive pleasure

TOP 5: Billionaires who want to become immortal

Igor Smirnov, The Good LifeA fortune of several billion dollars, no problems, luxury and fulfillment of absolutely any desires – I want to prolong such a life forever.

But the only thing that is not yet subject to rich people is time. Old age will come to each of us, whether he is a tramp or a successful businessman. But the moneybags also do not want to give in and actively invest money in innovative developments of scientists.

Dmitry Itskov, being quite young, is already thinking about immortality. "Russia 2045" is an ambitious project that brought together thirty Russian scientists. The best minds will work on creating an artificial person with their own consciousness. According to the 32-year–old billionaire, living only for today is rather frivolous. The project was supported by many respected people: professors of Moscow State University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Hollywood star Steven Seagal and even the Dalai Lama.

American John Lochlin is a fan of cryonics. The 82-year-old entrepreneur willingly agreed to participate in the Alcor Life Extension Foundation project. The company is engaged in preserving the body with liquid nitrogen for subsequent recovery. By the way, Lokhlin does not trust banking organizations, because according to legal documents, the death of a person implies the transfer of all property to heirs. The billionaire wanted to freeze his money in a special capsule.

Having reached the age of 90, David Murdoch understands that it is unlikely that scientists will be able to make a breakthrough in the next ten years. The main goal of a businessman is to live at least another 35 years. For this purpose, two research institutes have been created that study genetic diseases and their treatment, healthy nutrition and the development of healthy lifestyle principles. To date, the excellent health of the American billionaire takes place thanks to a fish and vegetable diet and a set of exercises.

John Sperling decided to go the other way. The main items of the entrepreneur's expenditure are scientific developments in the field of age-related diseases, as well as in the study of methods to combat the fear of death. At one time, a 92-year-old American was interested in cloning, but the project was closed in 2006. The billionaire wished that in case of death, his entire fortune (approximately $ 3 billion) would be transferred to finance medical developments.

Businessman Robert Miller bequeathed to place his lifeless body in a cryocapsule. Despite the fact that the Canadian is much younger than some of his colleagues (68 years old), the decision is unlikely to be changed. The billionaire is actively engaged in charity, but the main part of the funds is received by the Alcor Life Extension Foundation, which we have already mentioned today. As of February 2014, 973 people and 33 pets became "frozen" customers of the company.
