Nanoforum invites journalists

On September 3, 2009, the accreditation of press representatives for the Second International Forum on Nanotechnology, organized on the initiative of RUSNANO, begins.

To the attention of the press!Accreditation for the Second International Forum on Nanotechnology is held until October 5, 2009 inclusive.

To obtain accreditation, it is necessary to fill out an electronic registration form posted on the Forum's website in the "Press Center" section. In the "Press Center" section, you can also fill out the registration form for an interview. Please indicate in a special field the name of the speaker you are interested in interviewing, as well as sample questions that you would like to ask him. After receiving an interview request, we will notify the speaker and, depending on his plans for communicating with the media, we will try to arrange a meeting. We will inform you about the possible time and date of the interview in advance.

Accredited journalists are those who have received a personal confirmation of accreditation from the press center of the Forum.

For all questions related to accreditation, you can contact Ekaterina Kotova by phone +7 (916) 820 58 97 or by e-mail: pressforum@rusnano.comThe official opening of the Forum-2009 will take place on October 6 at the Central Exhibition Complex "Expocentre".

The Second International Forum on Nanotechnology starts in the context of a changing economic picture of the world. In this regard, its main tasks will be to demonstrate the opportunities provided by the development of nanotechnology and the launch of innovative processes in the country's economy for the socio-economic modernization of the regions, fundamentally improving the efficiency of individual sectors of the national economy. The Forum participants are focused on finding effective solutions for the transfer of advanced technologies and promoting Russian nanotechnology products to new markets.

The official program of the Second International Forum on Nanotechnology includes business and scientific and technological parts. Over the course of three days, more than 40 discussions on the development of the innovative segment of the Russian economy and current problems and prospects for the formation of the domestic nanoindustry will take place at the event venues.

Traditionally, an exhibition of nanotechnology products will be held at the Forum site. Over 300 projects of organizations and companies from Russia, Germany, Great Britain, USA, South Korea, Czech Republic, Finland will be presented at it.

Production and infrastructure projects approved by the Supervisory Board of the Corporation in the following areas will be presented at the RUSNANO stand:

• solar energy and energy conservation (including the creation of production of environmentally friendly and energy-saving lighting systems based on nanotechnology);

• nanostructured materials (including the creation of the production of new composite materials — prepregs; high-barrier polymer films for the production of flexible packaging of a new generation);

• medicine and biotechnology (including the creation of production of medical equipment for cascade plasmapheresis based on track membranes);

• mechanical engineering and metalworking (including the creation of production of electrochemical machines for high-precision manufacturing of parts from nanostructured materials; wear-resistant products from nanostructured ceramics and cermets);

• optoelectronics and nanoelectronics (including the creation of serial production of integrated circuits using 90 nanometer technology; radio frequency identification tags (RFID tags) and metallized packaging materials);

• infrastructure projects.

Within the framework of the Forum-2009, for the first time, a solemn ceremony of awarding the RUSNANOPRIZE International Prize in the field of nanotechnology, awarded for scientific and technological developments, inventions and their introduction into mass production, will take place. Its first laureates were Academician Leonid Keldysh (Russia) and Professor Alfred and Cho (USA), who were at the origins of the development of molecular beam epitaxy technology, widely used in modern electronics. In addition, the award symbol of the Award will be awarded to the company RIBER (France) for the creation of equipment for molecular beam epitaxy.

Traditionally, projects of young Russian scientists in the field of nanotechnology will be presented to the participants and guests of the Forum. Also, for the first time within the framework of the Forum, young entrepreneurs-innovators will be awarded the Youth Award in the field of nanoindustry for the development and introduction of new nanotechnology products or the development of its production.

Detailed information about the events of the Second International Forum on Nanotechnology is available on its official website.
