Regenerative Medicine Day

The Skolkovo Innocenter announces February 14, 2013
"Day of regenerative Medicine in Russia"

On February 14, 2013, in the Skolkovo Hypercube, the topic of regenerative medicine will be revealed by scientists representing the core of this industry in the world: Vladimir Alexandrovich Mironov, Xuejun Wen, Anthony Atala, Paolo Macchiarini…

The program of the day will be opened by a press conference on the topic: "The role of 3D bioprinting in regenerative medicine".

The speakers of the press conference stated:

  • Livshits Gelena Vulfovna, Director of Medical Programs, Skolkovo Innovation Center;
  • Mironov Vladimir Aleksandrovich, doctor, recognized pioneer and inventor of organ printing and biofacturing technology, author of the idea of using tissue spheroids in bioprinting, scientific director of the Russian company 3D bioprinting solutions;
  • Alexander Ostrovsky, resuscitator, Chairman of the Board of Directors and founder of the INVITRO brand, CEO of 3D bioprinting solutions, a company engaged in the practical development of reproductive medicine technologies in Russia;
  • Novoselov Sergey Vladimirovich, expert in biochemistry, molecular and cellular biology, biomedicine, head of the modern research laboratory of 3D bioprinting solutions.

The speakers will highlight the main topics of the day:

  • Regenerative medicine: the state of the industry development in the world and in Russia, the main participants, technologies and trends.
  • The return of Russian scientists to Russia, the creation of an environment, the investment climate of the industry.
  • The biotechnological cluster and the Skolkovo Innovation Center and the Russian company 3D bioprinting solutions: a vector for the creation of prototypes of organs and effective methods of tissue replacement.
  • Bioprinting.

At the end of the one-hour press conference, media representatives are invited to participate in an extensive scientific program. The scientific part of the regenerative medicine day is segmented into 3 sessions with reports by Russian and international experts, opening thematic panel discussions.

Topic of the first session: "Private investments in regenerative medicine" will be announced in a brief report by Gennady Nikolaevich Konstantinov, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Ordinary Professor, Head of the Department of General and Strategic Management and Director of the Center for Corporate Governance of the State University – Higher School of Economics.

Further disclosure of the topic is planned in a panel discussion in which representatives of the Bortnik Foundation, Skolkovo, RVC and other invited experts are invited to participate.

Paolo Macchiarini – Professor of Regenerative Surgery, Director of the ACTREG Center at the Karalinsky Institute, Vasiliev Andrey Valentinovich, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor, Deputy. the directors of the Department of Analysis, Prognosis, Development of Healthcare and Medical Science of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation and other participants of the second panel discussion "Prospects for the development of regenerative medicine in Russia" moderated by Gelena Lifshits will raise a block of issues related to regulatory, infrastructural support of the cellular and regenerative medicine industry, the creation of an environment in our country, as well as the development of the industry as a whole.

The speakers will talk about the practical results of the industry in the world and about the most interesting projects in Russia and their prospects.

The start of the second session is scheduled after a report by Professor of the Department of Chemistry and Applied Bioengineering William H. Goodwin of the State University of Virginia, USA, Mr. Xuejun Wen on the topic "Computer-controlled biofacturing in regenerative medicine".

The guests of the event will learn about what bioprinting is, about unresolved issues of technology and about already implemented projects, as well as about the work of the scientific group of the Russian company 3D bioprinting solutions to create universal tissue constructs containing a perfusion solution inside themselves from the report of the author of the idea of using tissue spheroids in bioprinting – Vladimir Alexandrovich Mironov.

Mironov V.A. is a member of the author's group that created a device for the production of tissue spheroids, is the holder of the first patent on bioprinting, as well as the co-author of a collective patent: "Manufacture of vascular prostheses from nano-fibers".

At the end of his report, Vladimir Alexandrovich will talk about the biofacturing project, which was highly appreciated by the expert board of the Skolkovo Innovation Center. 3D bioprinting solutions company, whose mission is the practical development of reproductive medicine technologies in Russia, is designed to create solutions for people who need organ transplantation.

Using the technology of three-dimensional bioprinting of organs from autologous cells and tissue materials can be a solution to the problem of immune compatibility, and over time, the technology opens up the possibility of obtaining inexpensive prototypes of organs and effective ways of tissue replacement, allowing you to fully restore health.

The problems and tasks of bioprinting are the topic of the panel discussion following the report, which is scheduled to be attended by MD, PhD, Director of the Institute of Regenerative Medicine Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA, Mr. Anthony Ataly, V.A. Mironov and A.A. Potapov, Professor, Academician of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, Deputy. Director of the N.N. Burdenko Neurosurgery Research Institute as moderator.

On February 13, 2013, scientists invited by 3D bioprinting solutions and the Skolkovo Innovation Center will give lectures on bioprinting for students of the Faculty of Fundamental Medicine of Lomonosov Moscow State University.

The organizers of the event announce the opening of accreditation and registration for representatives of the media, scientific groups, representatives of the financial sector and other persons interested in the topic of the event and invite them to participate in the program of the day of regenerative medicine.
