Seminar on Systems Biology (St. Petersburg, May 15-18, 2014)

The Institute of Bioinformatics and the International scientific laboratory "Computer Technologies" of the National Research University of ITMO are opening applications for a four-day seminar on systems biology with the participation of invited lecturers from Washington University in St. Louis and Harvard University.

The purpose of the seminar is to give a deep understanding of computational problems arising from modern biological experiments, as well as existing methods for solving them. The seminar will explore the main approaches to obtaining biological data, including epigenetic profiling, ChIP-seq, RNA sequencing, gene expression analysis, exomic sequencing and metabolic profiling. Both the theoretical foundations of these methods and their practical application will be considered.

The seminar will be held from May 15 to May 18, 2014. The working language is Russian, but participants are required to speak English at the level of reading specialized scientific literature.

A competitive selection is being held: the seminar is designed for only 25 students.
