Alexander von Humboldt – for great scientists

Scholarships and grants of the Humboldt Foundation for young scientists of RussiaIC "NT-INFORM"
The Alexander von Humboldt Stiftung German Foundation offers scholarship, grant and award programs for scientists and young professionals from Russia.

The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation is a non–profit organization established in 1953 by the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany to support scientific cooperation between outstanding foreign and German scientists. The Foundation provides foreign scientists with research scholarships and awards that give them the opportunity to come to Germany and implement their own research projects together with German colleagues. The only selection criterion is the scientific qualification of the applicants.

There are no quotas either for individual countries or for individual academic disciplines.

The Humboldt Foundation annually allocates:

  • over 800 Humboldt scholarships and awards to highly qualified foreign scientists – candidates and doctors of sciences – for long-term research internship in Germany;
  • 10 scholarships from the Federal Chancellor of Germany to young potential leaders from the Russian Federation, the People's Republic of China and the United States of America (academic degree is not required).

After the end of the term of stay in Germany, the Foundation maintains contacts with all fellows and laureates, offering them repeated scientific internships in Germany, financial support for participation in conferences, etc.

The number of fellows and laureates of the Foundation exceeds 24 thousand people today (including 44 Nobel laureates) from more than 130 countries.
