Contest of popular science articles "bio/mol/text"-2015
Biomolecula annually holds a competition for the best popular scientific publication in the field of modern biology. The fifth contest "bio/mol/text" invites authors who are able to tell the reader about the achievements of biomolecular science correctly, accessible and with a fervent spark. This time we will pay special attention to immunology, aging mechanisms, as well as "visual" science!
The main topics of the competition are molecular biology and biophysics, biomedicine and bio- and nanotechnology, as well as immunology and everything related to cellular stress and aging of organisms.
Terms of the competition: works are accepted from July 1 to October 31, 2015.
The results of the competition (according to the decision of the jury) will be published in December 2015 on the website biomolecula.ru .
NOMINATIONS AND PRIZESArticles of the declared subject in the following nominations are accepted for the competition:
- the best review article revealing a small scientific field (at least 10 thousand characters)
the prize is 20 thousand rubles. the best news report covering a scientific study published since the beginning of 2015 (at least 5 thousand characters) award – 10 thousand rubles. - "Own work" (the best press release on the topic of his scientific work) (at least 10 thousand characters)
the prize is 20 thousand rubles. the best article on immunology (at least 10 thousand characters).- Ruslan Medzhitov, one of the world's leading experts in this field, will evaluate this nomination alone.
the prize is 20 thousand rubles. and a souvenir from R. Medzhitov. The best article about the mechanisms of aging and longevity (at least 10 thousand characters)
the prize – 20 thousand rubles – is provided by the Science for Life Extension Foundation. Clearly about the beloved.- Not all texts are written. And draw something about science! Possible genres: comics, sketch, graphic summary, photography, video, cartoon, 3D render, infographics, interactive artwork, canvas and oil, cross-stitch. This nomination will be evaluated by Ivan Konstantinov, the creator of the studio of scientific graphics "Visual Sciences", and Nikolai Vyakhhi, the (co)founder of the Institute of Bioinformatics.
the prize is 20 thousand rubles. The audience Award will be awarded based on the calculation of the "likes" assigned to each article.
The prize – the newest tablet computer "HTC Nexus 9" – is awarded by Helicon. In addition, the best articles after summing up the results of the competition will be published in the magazines "Nature", "Science and Life", "Chemistry and Life", "Popular Mechanics" and "Schrodinger's Cat".
Their authors will receive special prizes from the editors of these honorary journals. The Institute of Bioinformatics will also not stand aside: they will invite the participants they like to their educational programs: intensive bioinformatics, bioinformatics summer school (in 2016) or a seminar on systems biology.The participant has the right to submit no more than one work for each of the first six nominations; all works that have passed the editorial selection compete for the audience award.
