International Award in the field of nanotechnology

The Supervisory Board of RUSNANO approved the composition of the Committee for the award of the International Prize in the field of NanotechnologyRUSNANO CEO Anatoly Chubais and Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Vice President of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Nobel Prize laureate Zhores Alferov will head the Committee as co-Chairs.

The International Prize in the field of nanotechnology is a unique award - for the first time in world practice, the prize will be awarded to laureates not only for scientific developments and inventions in the field of nanotechnology, but also for their practical implementation in mass production.

The award will be awarded annually in one of the following areas:

  • Nanoelectronics;
  • Nanobiotechnology;
  • Nanomaterials;
  • Nanodiagnostics.

In 2009, the Prize will be awarded for developments and their practical implementation in the field of nanoelectronics.The Prize fund in 2009 is 3 million rubles, in the future the total maximum amount of the monetary part will be 500 thousand US dollars in ruble equivalent.

Inventors, scientists and developers (no more than 3 people in total) who are the authors of scientific and technological developments or developments on the same topic or direction that have been introduced into mass production will be awarded with cash prizes, award symbols, Honorary diplomas and badges of laureates.

A company that has introduced this development into mass production for the first time or has achieved maximum commercial success through the introduction of this development will be awarded an Honorary Diploma and an award symbol of the Award.

The award decision will be made by the Committee for the Award of the International Prize in the Field of Nanotechnology, the Department of Nanotechnology and Information Technology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the International Advisory Council, the Expert Group and the Directorate of the Award.

The Committee for the award of the International Prize in the Field of Nanotechnology included representatives of science and business:

  • Mikhail Alfimov, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Director of Photochemistry of the Russian Academy of Sciences;
  • Mikhail Kovalchuk, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Director of the RSC "Kurchatov Institute";
  • Marina Rodnina, Professor, Director of the Department of Physical Biochemistry at the Max Planck Institute of Biophysical Chemistry (Germany);
  • Vladimir Fortov, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Director of the Institute of Thermophysics of Extreme States of the Joint Institute of High Temperatures of the Russian Academy of Sciences;
  • Sergey Kiriyenko, General Director of Rosatom State Corporation;
  • Vitaly Lopota, General Director – General Designer of S.P. Korolev Rocket and Space Corporation Energia;
  • Alexey Mordashov, General Director of Severstal;
  • Mikhail Prokhorov, President of ONEXIM Group LLC.
