Bigfoot turned out to be a possum

Geneticist found out that bigfoot is a possum

Anna Romantseva, FederalPostA fierce dispute arose between a veterinarian from Texas, who allegedly proved the existence of a bigfoot, and a journalist who conducted an independent study.

As the correspondent of the Huffington Post website (Bigfoot DNA Tests: Melba Ketchum's Research Results Are Bogus, Claims Houston Chronicle Report), previously veterinarian and geneticist Melba Ketchum, who has been researching the genome of a mysterious creature for five years, said that the DNA test proved that Bigfoot actually exists and is a hybrid of an intelligent human and an unknown primate.

The results of her work were published in the scientific journal DeNovo Journal of Science and immediately caused a flurry of criticism from scientists and journalists.

Take a look at this pathetic website created specifically for the publication of Ms. Ketchum's sensational discovery. It can only be called a scientific journal by thoughtlessness. And in the Huffington Post it is written in English in white: “She published her findings in a "scientific journal", though the only article to appear in the DeNovo Journal of Science was Ketchum's study”. In translation, the quotation marks for the words "scientific journal" are omitted for some reason - VM.

However, Melba continued to insist that she was right, citing data on the "sequencing (determination of the amino acid or nucleotide sequence of proteins and nucleic acids) of three nuclear genomes of bigfoot."

Recently, reporter Eric Berger, according to him, fed up with these vague proofs of the existence of Bigfoot, decided to check the veracity of the results of Ketchum's work and sent several DNA samples of the "hybrid" to an independent geneticist.

A specialist studying the heredity of organisms agreed to help Berger and conducted his own test of the sample sent.

The results of his analysis were strikingly different from the fruits of Melba's labor – the geneticist found that there was genetic material in front of him... possum.

"If Ketchum's statement had been confirmed, then this bigfoot story would have become a real blockbuster, and my friend would have been involved in the scientific discovery of a decade and, possibly, a century. Alas, I met my geneticist friend last week and asked about the bigfoot DNA, and he replied that it was a mixture of several genera of possums. No, this is definitely not the discovery of the century," Eric wrote in his article.

Berger's criticism provoked a predictable reaction from the veterinarian – she described his research as "scientifically unfounded" and accused her opponent of trying to play out a drama.

"This is unbelievable! My work was carried out according to all the rules and there is no doubt! There is nothing of science in his investigation, but only sheer envy," Melba believes.

To resolve discrepancies between the research results, Ketchum suggested that the journalist conduct a new analysis under their general supervision.
