Rally, don't rally…

Ivan Ekonomov, "Trinity Variant"

One colleague surprised me extremely by asking if I went to the rally on June 28 on Suvorovskaya Square. But I restrained myself and politely replied that only idlers, fools, mentally unstable individuals and professional liberals go to all kinds of protest rallies. Reasonable people sit at their workplace, working for the good of the Motherland, and go to rallies and demonstrations only at the call of the party and the government – to demonstrate unbreakable unity.

Only such public events make sense, and everything else is empty, if not harmful. I don't even want to talk about deliberately destructive actions organized by agents of the State Department like Navalny – let's consider a trade union rally. As usual, the comrades gathered on the square demanded money: they say, it is necessary to increase funding for science and fulfill the May presidential decrees. It's an outrage, they say, that the government does not comply with the May presidential decrees.

Dear colleagues, why are you so worried about the implementation of the May decrees?! To track their implementation, there are specially trained people who monitor everything and record everything, reporting up if necessary. There are higher minds who, based on considerations of state expediency, determine whether there is a need to force the implementation of presidential decrees and instructions or there is no such need.

Yes, colleagues, yes, it is not always necessary to comply with written laws: there are cases when it is better to close your eyes to their non-compliance than to correct them. After all, the May decrees are a kind of spiritual staples of the current presidential rule, they symbolize all the power and holy truth of our national leader. Therefore, in no case can they be corrected, corrected or canceled – this would devalue and profane all their high symbolism. Spiritual bonds must be unshakable! It's better to just close your eyes.

What to do, it happens that the original plans collapse under the influence of circumstances of force majeure. In 2012, no one could have imagined that in 2015 they would have to so fiercely resist the enraged West on all fronts, crush its Bandera henchmen in Ukraine and Islamist puppets in Syria. And this, you know, requires serious funds, the budget is not rubber.

Well, judge for yourself, which is more important – to wet terrorists in Mariupol and Deir ez-Zor toilets or to care for and cherish the elderly scientific public? In my opinion, colleagues, the choice here is obvious and, alas, it is not in our favor.

Further, you, comrades, complain that a noticeably smaller percentage of GDP is spent on basic science than in developed countries. This, excuse me, is mediocre greed in you: it is clear that if foreign scientists are paid salaries of thousands of euros every month, then, of course, it would be difficult to expect that pennies are spent on science there.

However, we must remember that we should not succumb to the corrupting influence of the decaying West, where lack of spirituality and thirst for profit reign. If we step on the slippery slope of selfishness today and achieve a sharp increase in our real wages, then satiety will begin and tomorrow, you see, we will reach the legalization of gay marriage.

The Russian people have always been strong with their resourcefulness and ingenuity, our ideal is a Lefty who will do everything himself, and not a burgher who only knows how to work on everything ready. So it is necessary not to reach for Western percentages of GDP, it is necessary to preserve national identity, including in the field of science and innovation.

In addition, I have another reason why it is not worth going to rallies. Think, colleagues, where we will come to if government decisions are made not based on the results of painstaking official work, discussions at meetings and councils, but under the influence of rally screamers. The budget law should be born in the sacred silence of high offices, and not in noisy, agitated squares. We already have enough games with elections and ballots imposed on us by our friends and partners, which can allow incompetent and simply dangerous people to get to power.

In general, there is nothing to pander to the street, the correct state approach should be: rally, don't rally, you'll still get what you're supposed to.
