Robot-diagnostician – for the first time in Russia

He is not rude and does not get tired, does tests with a smile and gives free health advice – this is the kind of medical worker many dream of. And such a specialist has already appeared on the market: the "Diagnostic Robot" of the Perm company Promobot can do not only all of the above, but also much more. Working on the basis of an autonomous service robot Promobot V.4, it is able to measure your blood sugar and oxygen content in it, find out your pressure, temperature and other important indicators. With the help of built-in medical equipment (thermometer, glucose meter, tonometer, spirometer, scales, etc.), the robot measures the actual human indicators, which allows you to give better recommendations about the state of health. In addition, the machine is able to conduct a screening survey in order to identify the risk of developing various diseases, after which it gives recommendations on the degree of risk of diseases and on a healthy lifestyle. The robot tracks a person's gaze and voice and is able to maintain a conversation. He is able to recognize faces, save the received medical data and even print them right on the spot. No, this is not a replacement for doctors and nurses, the developers say, but a tool for popularizing healthy lifestyle and an opportunity for the population to undergo a mass screening examination.
Promorobot's products have been installed in two clinics in the capital and abroad, and the Robot-Diagnostician is already working in the capital's Department of Health within the framework of the Healthy Moscow project. The robot was created by domestic developers using Russian equipment. A whole team of specialists worked on the machine: doctors, engineers, programmers and many others.
"Our robot caused a storm of emotions and interest among the representatives of the Ministry of Health. Some success has already been achieved in practical application. We are talking about two of our developments: this is a "Diagnostic robot" that popularizes a healthy lifestyle, occupational examinations, medical examinations, and another similar robot, but without medical equipment, called "MedRegistrator". In fact, it is a robot that replaces the registry of polyclinics, hospitals," the regional manager of the Promobot company told Scientific Russia Roman Komissarov.
After communicating with the client, the robot can not only give recommendations on a healthy lifestyle, but also refer patients to doctors, encourage people to undergo medical examination. Also, this solution can be used as a tool for conducting the first stage of medical examination or pre-medical examination.
"The main message of our robot is mass screening for chronic non–communicable diseases, and in the first place for this robot is, of course, the diagnosis of diseases of the circulatory system. Because in Russia, mortality from this kind of diseases is the leading among the rest. With this robot, you can measure blood sugar, body mass index and heart rate. Why is this so important? The fact is that diabetes mellitus, obesity, hypertension are among the most important predictors of the development of coronary heart disease, heart attack, cerebral circulatory disorders, up to a fatal outcome," said one of the authors of the project, a doctor, a representative of the Perm State Medical University named after E. A. Wagner Alexey Vronsky.
At the XVIII Healthy Moscow Assembly held on January 16-19, 2020, the robot proved itself well among specialists and industry experts, as well as residents and guests of the capital. And yesterday, a presentation of a diagnostic robot took place in Moscow, where the developers showed their innovative product in action.
