Google has announced a partnership with Johnson & Johnson, which aims to create an advanced robotic surgical platform. The new joint project will involve "existing capabilities, developments and accumulated experience" from both sides. In addition, Ethicon, a manufacturer of medical equipment, will take part in the creation of the platform.

The partnership of manufacturers involves the use of robots by companies as an additional surgical instrument. In the future, it is possible to fully use robotics that performs surgery independently.

"Robotic surgery is a type of minimally invasive surgery that involves the use of technology to provide surgeons with a higher level of control, access and accuracy during surgical operations, while the benefits for patients are to minimize wounds and scars, as well as a shorter postoperative period of wound healing and rapid recovery. The companies are striving to develop new robotic tools and capabilities for surgeons and operating room medical personnel that combine best–in-class medical technologies with advanced automated systems, visualization and analytics," the companies said in a statement.

The platform described in the joint project between Google and Johnson & Johnson will also be used to collect and analyze data related to certain procedures in order to improve the level of medicine and specific techniques used by surgeons today in the long term.

According to the Google Life Sciences team, which oversees the project from Google, the use of robots in surgery can significantly improve the overall level of healthcare. At a minimum, robot surgeons will allow you to perform more precise actions during the operation.
