The average daily number of patients who have received positive test results for class G antibodies (IgG) to SARS-COV-2 coronavirus infection in the Siberian and Ural Federal Districts of Russia since mid-November exceeds 50%.

Such data were obtained during the information project "Invitro.Monitoring", launched by the Invitro Group of companies to monitor mass testing for class G antibodies, which began in May this year, the company reports. In total, more than 1,230,000 tests were performed, and the total number of positive results on a cumulative basis in Russia is 25.1%.

The presence of specific antibodies – immunoglobulins G – in the blood serum makes it possible to determine whether the body has encountered the SARS-CoV-2 virus and whether antibodies have been developed during contact that recognize the virus upon repeated encounter with it. A positive test for IgG indicates the fact of infection in the past with the SARS-CoV-2 virus with the formation of a specific immune response.

The maximum average daily result was recorded in Novosibirsk, where the number of positive tests for class G antibodies in December exceeded 60%. For the other largest cities of the Siberian Federal District , the data looks like this:

  • Novosibirsk – average daily percentage of positive results in December – 62%;
  • Krasnoyarsk – daily percentage – 58%;
  • Omsk – daily percentage – 56%;
  • Barnaul – daily percentage – 55%;
  • Irkutsk – daily percentage – 54%.

Data from the largest cities of the Ural Federal District show a similar picture:

  • Yekaterinburg – average daily percentage of positive results in December – 52%;
  • Chelyabinsk – daily percentage – 57%;
  • Tyumen – daily percentage – 53%;
  • Magnitogorsk – daily percentage – 57%;
  • Surgut – daily percentage – 52%.

In Moscow and St. Petersburg, the picture looks different. In total, since May of this year, more than 286,000 tests have been performed in Moscow, of which positive results were obtained cumulatively in 17.7% of the people who passed the study. The average daily percentage of positive results for the last month was 30%.

In St. Petersburg, over the same period, more than 101,000 tests were performed, positive cumulative results were obtained in 25% of cases. The average daily percentage of positive results for the last month was 38%.

To date, a cumulative total of class G antibodies to the SARS-COV-2 virus have been found in 25.1% of Russians who have passed the Invitro study. For comparison, during the first two weeks of testing in May of this year, this figure was 13.2% cumulative, in October – 20.1%, and by the end of November exceeded 27%. The change in this indicator indirectly indicates the formation of an immune response to infection in part of the population.

As for the gender distribution of patients who applied for the study in "Invitro", it remains the same: more than 59% are women.

Mass testing for antibodies to the SARS-CoV-2 virus began on May 18, 2020 in the entire network of Invitro medical offices in Russia, which today number more than 1,550. Laboratory tests for the qualitative determination of class G antibodies are carried out by the method of enzyme immunoassay (ELISA) and immunochemiluminescent (IHL) analysis. The material for the study is venous blood serum. The research is carried out using test systems of Russian and European production.
