Russia against Breast cancer
The project "Russia against Breast Cancer" has started operating in our country
Modern medicine has more than two hundred varieties of cancerous (oncological) formations. The chances of recovery from cancer increase when the disease is detected in its early stages. The favorable prognosis for survival and complete cure of a patient with early stages of the disease – 0, I and II – is very high, it ranges from 75 to 95% and will be the higher the lower the detected stage of cancer.
All over the world today, new effective methods and drugs are being developed for the treatment of various oncological diseases, state programs are being developed to combat oncology, which are primarily aimed at early diagnosis.
This year, the project "Russia against Breast Cancer" started operating in our country, created by a working group led by the Plenipotentiary representative of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation for interaction with the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation and for interaction with the Commissioner for Children's Rights under the President of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the All-Russian socio–political movement "Mothers of Russia" - Valentina Alexandrovna Petrenko, with the participation of the country's leading oncologists, is designed to consolidate the efforts of all institutions of society and become the first step towards creating a National program to save Russian women from the risk of becoming unjustified victims of breast cancer.
Within the framework of the project, a joint action plan has been developed to address topical issues of reducing disability and mortality of women. In many countries, well–known and influential women take an active part in the fight against serious diseases and lead public projects in this area, for example, in America – Hillary Clinton is actively fighting breast cancer, and actresses such as Elizabeth Hurley, Reese Witherspoon, Cameron Diaz are participants in various movements to combat this disease.
It is very important that today in Russia, the chairman of the upper house of the Russian Parliament, Valentina Ivanovna Matveenko, takes part in the promotion and implementation of this project and personally oversees it, which attaches great importance to this problem and takes all necessary steps at the state level to address the issues identified by the project, which, of course, affects the most important thing – safety the life of a woman, a mother.
She notes the need to consolidate all professional forces and means to implement the concept based on existing international experience and positive results of many years of work in the field of early diagnosis and treatment of the disease in order to reduce the risk of disability and mortality of Russian women from breast cancer at all levels, both federal and regional, this will save the lives of mothers and reduce the level of orphanhood in Russia.
The Federation Council is the Chamber of Regions, in this regard, Valentina Ivanovna pays special attention to the need for active work at the regional level in solving the problem of high disability and mortality of women from breast cancer. She believes that it is necessary to adopt special programs on this issue of preserving women's lives.
