As part of an agreement with the British company QS Quacquarelli Symonds "Social Navigator" MIA "Russia Today" presents a Russified version of the tenth ranking of the best universities in the world according to QS.

QS Quacquarelli Symonds is a leading international provider of analytical information on higher education and employment. QS's activities extend to 50 countries, it cooperates with more than 2 thousand leading universities of the world and 12 thousand employers. Every year, QS evaluates about 3 thousand universities, choosing the best ones. The QS ranking of the best universities in the world includes only those universities that offer all levels of education: bachelor's, master's and doctoral studies (or postgraduate studies in Russian practice). At the same time, the university should cover at least two of the five fields of knowledge: humanities and arts; engineering and technical sciences; natural sciences; medicine and life sciences; social sciences and management. In 2013, the overall list of the ranking included 800 universities representing 76 countries of the world. During the preparation of the rating, more than 62 thousand representatives of the academic community and more than 27 thousand employers were interviewed.

The QS rating is created for classical universities where disciplines of at least two different subject areas are taught. Its compilers have been applying six main criteria for evaluating the university almost unchanged for 10 years: reputation in the academic environment, the citation of publications of university staff, the ratio of the number of teachers and students, the attitude of employers to graduates, as well as the relative number of foreign teachers and students.
