Save time on your morning coffee

Indiegogo raises money for toothpaste with caffeine

A crowdfunding campaign has started on Indeigogo, within which it is planned to raise money for the release of an unusual toothpaste – it will contain caffeine. The paste will have the appropriate name Power Toothpaste, and its creator really suggests the following scheme of its use: caffeine will not be consumed in the usual way, as the vast majority of people do, with a cup of coffee, but absorbed "directly" through the gums. Thus, it will be possible to leave only one action from the daily morning ritual – morning coffee and then brushing your teeth.

A tube of Power Toothpaste, which is designed for about 90 cleanings, should cost $12. A milliliter of paste will contain approximately 106 mg of caffeine. This amount is chosen with some margin: since people spit out paste during the brushing process, they may thereby "miss" their usual dose of caffeine, which is about 80 mg. At the same time, the paste itself does not differ in consistency from the "usual" and does not give any "coffee" shade to the teeth.

The creator of Power Toothpaste himself is fully aware that people drink coffee not only to cheer up from the caffeine contained in it, but also to taste the drink or for a convenient reason to talk to friends, for example. Therefore, he really positions his idea as a "substitute" for coffee only for those who do not have time for morning coffee. It may even be useful. The author of the idea of Power Toothpaste has statistics that say that 50% of Americans do not use dental floss daily, and 50% generally manage only one brushing of teeth per day. Having an "invigorating" paste on the bathroom shelf, one can expect that the routine process of brushing teeth will acquire new features.

The paste itself is registered as a cosmetic product: in other words, it can be used to remove plaque, but it will not be possible to achieve a "therapeutic" effect as from a paste containing fluoride. Power Toothpaste has a characteristic mint taste, which is more bitter than the usual pastes, but, as the creator of the idea says, it is absolutely not critical and he is already used to it.
