10 tips for those who want to get out of the subway alive and well

After the tragic death of 19-year-old Victoria Sokolova in the St. Petersburg metro, the subway administration prepared a special memo for its passengers, following the advice of which you can go down to the subway, get to your destination and come back to the surface alive and well.

1. When entering the station through the lobby doors – hold them so as not to injure the passengers following you.

2. In order to avoid injury on escalators – it is necessary to stand on the right necessarily in the direction of movement, hold tight to the handrail and do not linger when descending from the escalator.
If a passenger fell on the escalator in front of your eyes, or his belongings got into the escalator comb, you should immediately stop the escalator with the "Stop" handle located on the balustrade and contact the escalator attendant.
If the escalator suddenly stopped – you need to clearly follow the instructions of the escalator attendant.
When transporting shopping bags-trolleys – they must be lifted in advance at the entrance to the escalator and exit from it.

3. To avoid falling on the track – do not go beyond the boundary line at the edge of the platform until the train stops completely.

4. If your belongings have fallen on the path, you should contact the station employee or the policeman on duty. It is strictly forbidden to jump on the path and get things yourself.

5. If a person has fallen on the path in front of your eyes, you must immediately contact any metro employee at the station or a policeman on duty. In case of their absence and an approaching train – take measures to stop the arriving train with a circular motion of the hand.
In case of a passenger falling on the track between the cars when the train is parked, perform an action that prevents the door of the car from closing, thus attracting the attention of the driver and contacting any metro employee. If you are inside the car at this moment, use the "Passenger – Driver" connection.

6. If you fell on the track without getting serious injuries during the fall and can move independently – you need to get up and, without approaching the edge of the platform from which you fell, quickly walk along the train to the beginning of the platform. A black-and-white rail, reinforced on the way, will serve as a guide for you. Stand behind the rail – you are safe! Expect a subway worker to lead you out of the tunnel.
If you are injured when falling on the track or see an approaching electric train, lie down in the tray between the rails face down and head towards the train. In this case, a moving train will not harm you. Stay in this position until the train driver or the staff on duty come to your aid. In no case should you hide under the edge of the passenger platform or try to get out of the way yourself: a contact rail runs along the edge of the platform, on which a high voltage of 825 V is applied, approaching it, and even more so touching it, is life–threatening. Do not touch the parts of the car, they may be energized.

7. If a passenger has become ill in the car before your eyes, you should immediately contact the driver of the electric train by emergency communication "Passenger – Driver" and inform him about the incident, be sure to indicate the number of the car. In this case, the driver will call a doctor to the nearest station.
Before the arrival of the doctor, it is necessary to provide first aid to the patient.

8. If a passenger has become ill at the station in front of your eyes, you should immediately contact any employee of the station: the station attendant, the station manager, the ATC officer on the subway, the attendant at the escalator.
Before the arrival of the doctor, it is necessary to provide first aid to the patient.

9. If there are hooligan actions in the car, you should immediately contact the driver of the electric train by emergency communication "Passenger–Driver" and inform him about what happened, be sure to indicate the number of the car. In this case, the driver will call the police squad to the nearest station.

10. If hooliganism occurs in the lobby or at the platform level – immediately contact any employee of the station or an employee of the Department of Internal Affairs on the subway.
