Vaccination and mask mode

Is it worth vaccinating those who have been ill

Naila Asker-zade, "Vesti"

Is it worth vaccinating those who have been ill, when two more vaccines will be released into civil circulation and under what conditions the mask regime can be canceled. This was discussed on January 18 at a briefing at the Government House. Who is recommended to be vaccinated in the first place?

It is better to do this for people over 55 years old. After all, in case of infection with coronavirus, their disease is more severe, there is a high risk of complications. Also at risk are patients suffering from obesity, diabetes mellitus, hypertension or having coronary heart disease. If a person feels well and has not had respiratory diseases in the last two weeks, he can be vaccinated. It is not necessary to take a test for coronavirus infection, however, there are also contraindications for vaccination.

"The main contraindications are severe allergic reactions to the components of the vaccine, a number of autoimmune diseases, and directly depending on the course of a chronic disease, decisions can be made, including by a doctor, on the timing of vaccination. The instruction does not provide for the vaccination of children under 18 years of age, nor does it provide for the vaccination of pregnant women and nursing mothers," stressed Russian Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko.

Many are concerned about the question of whether it is worth vaccinating those who have been ill. This topic even arose at a press conference of Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

"I have antibodies because I suffered a mild coronavirus infection," explains Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. – But now I have heard that experts advise even those who have been ill to still get vaccinated... I heard about it yesterday, I will consult with doctors."

This question was answered by Lavrov's colleague, Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova.

"After the disease, antibodies in the body of a sick person can gradually decrease. This does not mean that cellular immunity or cellular memory is going away. It is extremely rare for people to get sick again. These are isolated cases, and all our observations show and testify to this. Therefore, those who have suffered a new coronavirus infection should not rush to get vaccinated yet," Tatyana Golikova, deputy chairman of the Russian government, warned.

Vaccination is carried out free of charge and on a voluntary basis. You must have a passport and a compulsory medical insurance policy with you. And in two weeks it will be possible to sign up for vaccination through the portal "Public Services". Information about where and how to get vaccinated can be obtained by calling the toll-free federal short number 122.

"Upon completion of the second stage of vaccination, it will be possible to issue an electronic certificate. I'll quickly show you how it works. So, we take a QR code and, if necessary, you see, it can be checked. We have confirmation that the certificate of preventive vaccination is valid. And it is very convenient to use. And if necessary, it will be presented somewhere," explains Dmitry Chernyshenko, Deputy chairman of the Russian government.

And how many days after vaccination is immunity to coronavirus formed? On average, within 42 days after the first vaccination or three weeks after the introduction of the second component of the vaccine. Until this time, a person is considered unprotected from infection. Therefore, he must wear a mask and observe all other precautions.

"We need to take care of the people around us, that is, to continue wearing a mask until the formation of a general population immunity. Since an immune person can become a carrier of infection for a short time after contact with a sick person and infect others," explains the need to wear a medical mask in public places, the Minister of Russian Health Mikhail Murashko.

So far, only the Sputnik V vaccine of the Gamalei Center has been put into large-scale use, but the EpiVacCorona vaccine of the Vector Center is also beginning to enter civilian circulation and be used for vaccination of the population. And since February, it is planned to launch large-scale production of this drug. The research of the KoviVak vaccine of the Chumakov Center is being completed. It is planned to register it on February 16, and launch it into civil circulation in March.

Will production keep up with the needs of the healthcare system? The Ministry of Industry and Trade assures that agreements have already been reached on the purchase of the necessary equipment, and the industry has reached a production rate higher than previously announced volumes. Almost 6.5 million doses of the two components of the Sputnik V vaccine have already been produced. Another 11 million doses are planned to be produced in February and 15 million doses in March. The vaccine is also being delivered to the regions. The Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov told at which sites it is produced.

"We initially selected seven sites, of which six are already functioning,– Manturov explains. – This is the site of the Gamalei Institute itself, three production sites of Generium, Biocat and Benopharm. And by the end of the month, the Ermpharm company will join the work. Starting from February, EpiVacCorona will also be produced at the Vector enterprise. We have connected our pharmaceutical company "Gerafarm" to this work.

According to scientists, 68.6 million people need to be vaccinated in Russia. This is without taking into account those who have already been ill, as well as children.

"Full control over the epidemic situation in the country can only be due to high immunization of the population, a high immune layer. This is 60% of the total number of people over the age of 18," adds the chief state sanitary doctor, head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova.

Children of preschool and primary school age were the most protected. Among working Russians, immunity is most often formed among employees of medical institutions, workers in the field of education, trade and transport. Less often, those who work at manufacturing enterprises.

"People at industrial enterprises had much less contact and were less ill – they have no requirements in their professional duties for contacting the consumer of any service. And here we need to pay special attention to the immunization of this population group," Anna Popova stressed.
