$30M from Gates

Bill Gates Invests $30 million in Alzheimer's Research

RIA News

American billionaire and Microsoft founder Bill Gates has joined a consortium of investors and is investing up to $ 30 million over three years in the Alzheimer's Diagnostics Accelerator research fund, according to a post on the billionaire's personal blog.

According to Gates, the next donation to research in this area was prompted by communication with families in which some members were diagnosed with this disease. He also noted that his father suffered from this disease.

"Therefore, my next investment goes to Alzheimer's research, to the Diagnostics Accelerator fund. This project, launched by the Alzheimer's Drug Discovery Foundation (ADDF), is designed to accelerate innovative developments in the field of early diagnosis of the disease," Gates notes.

In addition to him, Ronald Lauder, chairman of the American cosmetics firm Estee Lauder, Dolby Family Ventures, and the Charles and Helen Schwab Foundation invest in the fund.

In November last year, Gates already announced a $50 million investment in the Dementia Discovery Fund, which deals with the problem of treating dementia and other acquired brain diseases.
