Mobile medical teams to help the elderly

Among the social living conditions of the elderly, health is traditionally one of the first places. According to medical statistics, on average, one elderly patient in Russia has from 4 to 7 combined chronic diseases that reduce their physical and social activity.

To identify these diseases in time and start treatment means to prolong a person's life, to improve its quality.

According to the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of the Stavropol Territory, in order to improve the quality of social and medical services for elderly and disabled citizens, a new form of medical care has been introduced - a mobile medical team created on the basis of the Stavropol Regional Gerontological Center.

The mobile team consisted of doctors – narrow specialists: a surgeon, dentist, psychiatrist, otolaryngologist, ophthalmologist, neurologist, doctor and nurse of functional diagnostics. The team is equipped with portable ultrasound, ECG, and dental equipment.

Doctors will make regular visits to social institutions of the region located in settlements remote from district centers to conduct comprehensive preventive examinations of elderly citizens and the disabled.

The mobile brigade made its first trip to the Pregradnensky boarding house for the elderly and disabled. Preventive examination was carried out to 37 citizens. As a result of the examination, cases of oncological diseases and glaucoma in the early stages were identified, correction of treatment of post-stroke conditions, rehabilitation of the oral cavity was carried out. All those in need are sent for inpatient examination and treatment to specialized medical institutions.

The next departure is scheduled for May 25. Doctors will examine elderly people living in the Kitaevsky boarding house "Rodnik".
