A new flu vaccine has been developed by Russian scientists, the expert said
A new vaccine capable of protecting Russians from influenza in late winter and early spring is a completely domestic development, said Nikolai Malyshev, a leading researcher at the D.I. Ivanovsky Research Institute of Virology of the Ministry of Health of Russia.
Earlier, Deputy Minister of Health of Russia Sergey Kraevoy said that the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation approved a plan to switch to a new vaccine that will protect Russians from influenza in late winter and early spring, now it is being coordinated in Rospotrebnadzor. The transition to the new vaccine is planned to begin in 2019, and to be completed in 2021 or 2022.
"This is an entirely domestic development, it began in 2015, came to completion this fall," Malyshev said at a press conference at MIA Rossiya Segodnya.
At the same time, according to him, the old-style vaccine will remain on the Russian market for a long period. He clarified that the vaccine that Russians are being vaccinated with now is effective, effective and safe.
