Yesterday, TASS hosted an online press conference dedicated to the announcement of the winners of the Russian President's Prize in Science and Innovation for young scientists for 2020.

It is worth noting that the prize has been awarded since 2008 to young scientists and specialists of Russia for their significant contribution to the development of domestic science, the development of samples of new equipment and technologies that ensure innovative development of the economy and social sphere, as well as strengthening the country's defense capability. The amount of each award since 2019 is 5 million rubles.

"This year, fewer applications were submitted than last year. I think this is partly due to the fact that in this situation all the formalities are more difficult to take into account and organize. Nevertheless, we received a lot of work, and the most interesting thing is that the quality of paperwork was higher. Usually about 25-30% of the works that come to us are poorly designed, so they are not allowed to participate in the competition. This year there were about 15% of such works, which is also a lot. In the end, we received more than 80 works. After that, a serious examination was carried out, and I can say that the quality of work, despite the pandemic, has not decreased. As a result, four works were selected. Today, on February 8, the President of Russia signed a Decree on awarding No. 75," said Andrei Fursenko, assistant to the President of the Russian Federation.

Andrey Fursenko also named the winners. They became:

  • Maximenko Vladimir Aleksandrovich – for the development of invasive and non-invasive brain-computer interfaces for monitoring normal and pathological brain activity.

  • Dolgova Evgeniya Vladimirovna, Potter Ekaterina Anatolyevna, Proskurina Anastasia Sergeeva – for the formation of a new ideology in the treatment of patients with malignant tumors based on the time-coordinated action of innovative preparations of nucleic acids and cross-linking cytostatics.

  • Antonets Kirill Sergeevich and Nizhnikov Anton Alexandrovich – for the discovery of amyloid proteins in plants and symbiotic bacteria, an explanation of their functional significance.

  • Evgeny V. Khaydukov – for fundamental research of anti-stokes nanocrystals and creation of advanced technologies on their platform.
