Fraudsters who sold dietary supplements under the guise of medicines will go to court

In the Voronezh Region, a criminal case has been sent to court accusing an organized criminal group of committing more than 270 crimes. As Mikhail Usov, senior assistant prosecutor of the Voronezh Region, told the correspondent of IA REGNUM, the accused traded dietary supplements, passing them off as medicines. As a result, the criminals stole about five million rubles from citizens. The prosecutor of the Kominternovsky district of Voronezh approved the indictment in the criminal case against Vladimir Babyuk, Inna Tolmacheva, Galina Ducheva, Dmitry Vasechkin and Vladimir Kulikovsky, accused of committing 273 crimes under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud committed by an organized group).

According to investigators, four residents of the city of Volgograd and a resident of Voronezh, united in an organized criminal group, advertised in the media on the territory of the Russian Federation about the sale of drugs for the treatment of alcohol addiction and weight loss. One of the accused presented himself as a doctor and told the citizens who applied about the effectiveness and benefits of the "medicines" being sold. Other accomplices were engaged in the delivery of goods. In fact, ordinary biologically active additives were sold to citizens at a price ten times higher than their actual cost. In one of the episodes of criminal activity, the accused sold biologically active additives for 30 thousand rubles, while their total cost was only 1 thousand rubles. In total, for three years, during the period from July 2004 to May 2007, the accused stole money from citizens by deception in the amount of more than 4 million 700 thousand rubles and were detained as a result of operational measures.

After the prosecutor approves the indictment, the criminal case is sent to court.
