Innovative medical center may open in Barnaul

An innovative medical center worth 1.2 billion rubles is planned to be built in Barnaul

VademecumAs the rector of Altai State University (AltSU) Sergey Zemlyukov told reporters on Monday, the development and production of drugs will take place on the basis of this center.

According to Interfax, the university intends to receive funds for the creation of the center from the federal budget. To do this, in 2016, AltSU will need to win the competition for the creation of innovation centers in the regions of the Siberian Federal District within the framework of the Pharma 2020 project.

Similar centers operate in Moscow, St. Petersburg, the Nizhny Novgorod region and in the Ufa.

At the same time, in September 2014, a biomedicine research institute was already opened on the basis of AltSU in Barnaul. The Research Institute has a full-cycle Center for the development and introduction into clinical practice of innovative biomedical technologies in the field of regenerative medicine, gerontology, pharmacology and pharmacy. The research institute also includes the Russian-American cancer center, laboratories of pharmaceutical technology, experimental pharmacology, gene and cell technologies, as well as a drag design laboratory.
