The Expert Council of the Industry Development Fund (FRP) of the Ministry of Industry and Trade plans to lend 300 million rubles to the company "Genetiko" ("daughter" of the Institute of Human Stem Cells, ISCH), representatives of the fund and the company said. According to them, the money is needed for the production of DNA tests and a laboratory for the diagnosis of chromosomal, hereditary, oncological diseases. The cost of the entire project is 600 million rubles, the rest is the company's own investments. Vedomosti writes about this.

The FRP of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, established in 2014 to support import-substituting industries, provides targeted loans from 50 million to 700 million rubles on a competitive basis. at a rate of 5% per annum for up to seven years. The Fund has allocated loans to 12 projects related to various medical industries, totaling 4.17 billion rubles, says its representative.

Genetiko plans to create its own chips for tests, this will make genetic research more accessible, they can be included in the compulsory health insurance program, the representative of the foundation hopes.

Healthcare costs are growing precisely because of complex, rare and hereditary diseases, genetic diagnosis and prevention can be effective for the state, says Artur Isaev, Director General of the ISHR. Genetiko also plans to perform prenatal diagnostics without invasive intervention, the representative of the HSCC added.

Now all the equipment for the laboratory part of DNA analysis is produced by foreign companies, says Sergey Musienko, CEO of the Atlas biomedical holding. Investments in a full–cycle laboratory that allows working with DNA are about $2 million (132 million rubles), he estimated. The cost of a laboratory for prenatal diagnostics may amount to 70-350 million rubles, said a representative of Genotek, which also specializes in DNA research.

In addition, the creation of a laboratory can help the export of genetic diagnostics services to the CIS and Europe, including due to their cheapness, the representative of the fund believes.

Now the size of the market for genetic tests is no more than 1 billion rubles, "Genetiko" calculated. Genotek estimates the market at $10-20 million (660 million – 1 billion rubles) with the prospect of growth to $100 million (6.6 billion rubles) in the next 3-5 years.
