A project has been launched at Northeastern Federal University to raise funds to support a joint study of NEFU and the Korean SOAAM laboratory "Mammoth Rebirth".

The Mammoth Museum reports that the project will search for sponsors to financially support unique research, including fundraising.

Now researchers are preparing to open a laboratory for the isolation of "living" cells of ancient fossils. "We plan to launch the laboratory by the end of the year. Joint expeditions to search for mammoth remains and other ancient fossils have been completed, and scientists are now beginning to analyze the collected materials. Some samples will be taken to Korea for study. In the laboratory that we plan to open, the first stage of research will be carried out – the isolation of those "living" cells on which the future cloning of the mammoth depends," says Semyon Grigoriev, director of the NEFU Mammoth Museum. The laboratory will study the remains of not only a mammoth, but also other relic animals.

We remind you that the agreement on scientific and technical cooperation on the SOAAM project and NEFU "Mammoth Revival" was signed on September 7, 2012.
