OpenBio takes place in Novosibirsk

Olga Kobernik, Pharmaceutical Bulletin

On October 1, the open communications platform OpenBio started working in Novosibirsk.

Representatives of high-tech business, young scientists, representatives of development institutes, innovation support infrastructure organizations, students of specialized universities gathered in the biotechnopark. The participants were welcomed by the Deputy Governor of the Novosibirsk region Viktor Shevchenko.

– Today in Koltsovo it will be possible to hold negotiations on cooperation and get acquainted with advanced scientific developments, – he noted.

Evgeny Kuznetsov, a member of the Board of the Russian Venture Company, said that now there is fierce competition in the world for the right to create new innovative products. The main problem of the Russian innovative business, in his opinion, is connected with the shortcomings of coordination and communication.

– Biotechnologies are developing rapidly, it is the integration of all participants in the process that will reveal the "strengths" of each region. Even multinational corporations have already abandoned closed chains, building interethnic mutually beneficial cooperation. We also discussed issues of interaction. For example, the Institute of Chemical Biology and Fundamental Medicine, headed by Academician Valentin Vlasov, needs research and development, which by definition cannot be conducted by an academic center. We do this work every day and are interested in fundamental developments. Preliminary agreements have been reached with a company from Kazan, which has a fund, production, and we can supplement this work with preclinical and clinical trials, technology transfer to industrial production. These are the achievements of one day," said the general director of IFAR (a resident of Skolkovo from Tomsk) in an interview with the correspondent of "FV" Veniamin Khazanov.

The Siberian Biotechnological Initiative (SBTI) remains mostly Novosibirsk for the time being, the head of the Department of Innovative Projects of the Department of Social Development and Innovation of the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia, Semyon Vuymenkov, admitted.

He said that work is now continuing on defining the competencies of all SBTI subjects in order for the aggregate offer of the association to be more visible on the market.

– Clusters are needed to become more visible to federal authorities in terms of both support and positioning of cluster companies in Russia. Subsequently, access to international markets is implied. It is necessary to work with the Eurasian Economic Union, BRICS and SCO countries. This cooperation is necessary because the volume and stability of supplies are very important when entering international markets. In this case, participants producing even approximately the same range of products, representing the same list of services, can just be each other's "insurers" and form the capacity of the offer that needs to be implemented when requested from abroad," he noted.
