LDPR leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky was vaccinated against coronavirus, but he could have been injected with a placebo, Open Media found out. Vaccination is carried out as part of the third stage of testing of the Russian drug.

The fact that Zhirinovsky was vaccinated, his press service reported on the morning of September 2.

"After the Sputnik V vaccination, I feel great. The second part of the coronavirus vaccine will be given to me on the 20th of September," his Telegram channel quotes the politician as saying.

However, instead of vaccination, Zhirinovsky could have been injected with a placebo, because we are talking about trials. According to the rules of scientific research, some of the volunteers receive not a real vaccine, but a placebo – this is necessary to make sure that the vaccine is effective.

As Open Media found out, 30 thousand participants in the Sputnik trials will receive a vaccine, and 10 thousand will receive a dummy. And who gets what, neither the doctor nor the patient will know.

Nevertheless, the LDPR wants all deputies of the party faction in the State Duma to be vaccinated before the start of mass vaccination.
