The Institute of Human Stem Cells (Moscow) and the R.M. Gorbacheva Institute of Pediatric Hematology and Transplantology of the Pavlov St. Petersburg State Medical University (St. Petersburg) invite you to take part in the IV Annual International Symposium "Topical Issues of Cell Technologies".

Topic: Practice of umbilical cord blood cell transplantation

The purpose of the Symposium: to familiarize and train Russian hematologists, oncohematologists, transplantologists with the possibilities of transplantation of hematopoietic cord blood stem cells for the treatment of hematological and non-hematological diseases; to involve the media, public organizations and charitable foundations in the problem.

Date and venue: April 15, 2011, Moscow, Renaissance Hotel, Olympic ave. 18/1, hall "Moscow".

During the symposium, reports of domestic and foreign specialists will be held:

• E. Gluckman (France) – Results of umbilical cord blood cell transplantation in oncohematological diseases.
• M. Fernandez (Spain) – Using material from an adult donor to improve the results of cord blood cell transplantation.
• A. Madrigal (Great Britain) – Immunological properties of umbilical cord blood.
• S.L. Kiselev (Russia) – Obtaining blood cells from embryonic stem cells.
• T. Ton (Germany) – The European Regulation on Registration of High-tech Medicines (ATMP) and its impact on public and private cord blood banks.
• Professor B.V. Afanasyev, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences E.A. Selivanov and others will also take part in the Symposium.

Within the framework of the Symposium, a round table will be organized with the participation of guests, heads of cord blood banks and the media.
The topic of the Round table: Unresolved issues of banking and the use of cord blood cells.
