Maria Aleksandrova, an endocrinologist at the polyclinic of the Federal State Institution of Medical and Rehabilitation Center, told "RG" that ketodiet is considered to be one of the most harmful for health.
The essence of this diet is a complete restriction of carbohydrate intake, which activates the process of energy production from adipose tissue - ketosis, explained the doctor. At the same time, ketone bodies released in large quantities begin to systemically poison the body and can lead to irreversible consequences.
In addition, says Alexandrova, do not expect a lasting result from this diet. When returning to the usual diet, the weight will gain back very easily, and even more than before.
Also, according to the doctor, you should be cautious about any monodiet. They come in kefir, apple, cucumber, rice. Consumption of only one or two types of product for a long time creates deficiencies of many useful and necessary substances for our body, which leads to a violation of metabolism, a decrease in muscle and bone mass, as well as the formation of an eating disorder.
"Therefore, the effect of such a diet will also be temporary, and the consequences will have to be corrected for years," explained the endocrinologist.
Recently, detox diets are gaining popularity, promising cleansing from slags, toxins and cell renewal of the entire body. Their diet consists of juices, smoothies, vegetables, fruits, large amounts of fluid, sometimes added and pharmacological drugs. But the magic property of these diets is just a myth, Alexandrova emphasized.
She pointed out that due to the low energy value of food, the weight does go away, but when returning to the usual way of life, the hated kilograms are also very easy to gain back.
