Let's grow eyelashes on a bald spot. Expensive

Baldness was suggested to be treated with an eyelash remedyCopper news

The developer of a drug that stimulates the growth of eyelashes will test the effectiveness of the drug for baldness. The representative of the American pharmaceutical company Allergan, Heather Katt, told MSNBC (Latisse for your dome? Eyelash enhancer also thickens thin hair).

According to Catt, the company's specialists have already started research to assess the safety and effectiveness of Latisse (bimatoprost) in the treatment of baldness. In the future, Allergan intends to obtain permission for the appropriate use of the drug from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Hair restoration specialist Alan Bauman noted that currently several dozen of his patients suffering from hair loss are informally using bimatoprost. He noted that these are mainly those patients who are allergic to other drugs of similar action.

Bauman added that the main disadvantage of the drug is its high cost. In particular, a 60-milliliter bottle of bimatoprost costs from $ 100 to $150 in the USA. At the same time, according to the doctor, some patients use two or three vials a month.

Aesthetic pharmacology specialist Perry Romanowski, in turn, noted that "Latisse" able to help only those who have preserved hair follicles. He stressed that with the complete absence of hair, it is useless to take this medicine.

The drug "Latisse" was approved by the FDA as a means of stimulating the growth of eyelashes at the end of 2008. The active substance of the drug bimatoprost is an analogue of prostaglandins (prostaglandins are hormone–like substances that are synthesized not only in the prostate gland, but also in almost all tissues of the body and are able, among other effects, to modulate the action of a number of hormones on VM cells). The product is available in the form of a solution with an applicator.
