"2020 is the most turbulent year for all business events, both in Russia and in the world as a whole. Due to the epidemiological situation, we decided to shift the timing of BIOTECHMED from September 17-18 to October 15-16. Nevertheless, the forum has reached the peak of the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. We were forced to move most of the events to an online format. On October 15, all the events were held online – a total of 7 sessions were held. It was also decided to limit the number of participants of the offline event - in this regard, there was no traditional exhibition at BIOTECHMED 2020 – this year we planned 11 stands. In an offline format, we left the plenary meeting in compliance with all epidemiological requirements," said the director of the BIOTECHMED forum. Olga Piven.

The conference has traditionally become a platform for the final of the competition of innovative developments in the field of new medicines, medical devices and digital medicine "Startup Rally". 22 finalists of the contest performed in pitch sessions, their developments were evaluated by 16 jury members.

"The business program of the forum was built taking into account the current agenda: the topics of all sessions were somehow related to the treatment and prevention of coronavirus infection, and also touched upon the development of a vaccine against Covid-19. We are glad that despite the difficult epidemiological situation, the forum took place, and the plenary session was attended by key healthcare decision makers on the fight against coronavirus. All participants and speakers were provided with personal protective equipment, and disinfection of the site was carried out regularly," said the producer of the forum BIOTECHMED Olga Sobchenko.

The event was traditionally held with the support of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, Rostec State Corporation, the Administration of the Krasnodar Territory.
