On September 10-11, the second All–Russian conference with the international participation of the Gordey Foundation - "Duchenne Myodystrophy: diagnosis, proper clinical care and treatment" will be held. The conference was approved by Roszdravnadzor. Leading experts on Duchenne myodystrophy from Russia, the USA, Great Britain, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands will make presentations at the conference, which will highlight the most important issues of diagnosis, care and treatment.
We invite clinicians to participate in the conference: pediatricians, pediatric neurologists, orthopedists, psychiatrists and all medical specialists who are interested in this topic, as well as parents of patients, helping specialists, colleagues from non-profit organizations in Russia and the CIS.
Over the past two years, revolutionary changes have taken place in Duchenne's myodystrophy. The genetic diagnosis of the disease has been improved and made free and accessible to patients throughout the country, the procedure for disability registration has been simplified, the "golden" standard of therapy – corticosteroid treatment - has entered into the practice of patient management, standards for the management of patients at the palliative stage of the disease are being improved, high-tech rehabilitation of patients is developing. A new page has been opened for this disease – curative MDD gene therapy has appeared and come to our country.
Due to the rapid changes in nosology, there is an urgent need to inform the medical community in a timely manner about changes and new diagnostic opportunities, proper clinical care and treatment of patients with MDD, which is why our main target audience this year are clinicians. The event has been submitted for accreditation for awarding NMO points.
As a result of participation in the conference, doctors update their knowledge on orphan genetic disease, achievements and problems in its pediatric and genetic diagnosis, standards of proper clinical care for patients, key aspects of rehabilitation to prolong the ability to move and prevent disabling complications, opportunities and features of prescribing the latest pathogenetic therapy, features of managing patients at the palliative stage of the disease. The conference will also facilitate the exchange of experience and the introduction of the best international standards and practices in Russian healthcare.
