Business of innovative technologies: make the investor believe in you!

BIT-2010 has started. One of the most famous Russian contests of business plans and innovative ideas has started accepting applications. This year the BIT will be held in a new format: a new ambitious director Evgeny Savin, new prizes, new nominations, and most importantly – an even clearer focus on developing the link between innovation and business in Russia.

Registration of applications will last until the end of May this year. The All-Russian semi-final will be held in July. And the final of the BIT Contest will be held at the end of September in St. Petersburg. These events will be preceded by the identification of winners "on the ground" – from Vladivostok to St. Petersburg. This structure makes it possible not to miss unique projects not only in the capital, which is attractive to investors, but also in more "modest" regions. The final goal of the competition is to initiate the creation of new technology companies and promote the development of a culture of entrepreneurship in the Russian high tech sector. An important feature of the competition is educational seminars, which allows you to convey to the participants not only the principles of successful business, but also to find irreplaceable team members of the future company.

The name of Evgeny Savin, the new director of BIT, is also known to people in business circles - Evgeny has been engaged (and continues to be engaged, which is important in the conditions of acute Moscow competition) in many similar projects. He manages the Unova news agency (innovation and Venture market news), thanks to him the well-known iCamp conferences are held.

Evgeny Savin headed the BIT contest at the end of 2009. Its main goals are simple: to make the contest not just a good guide between business and ideas, but to achieve the best performance since the existence of the BIT.

BIT-2010 will be the eighth in a row. The statistics of previous contests speak for themselves:

  • more than 5,000 people are part of the BIT community of entrepreneurs
  • 840 ideas and projects have been announced over the years of the competition's existence
  • 150 experts from various fields evaluated the proposed business plans
  • 1000 academic hours – the total duration of the educational program for the participants of the competition
  • more than 5,000,000 rubles were paid to the winners of the BIT contest

The success of the previous bits is due to the fact that this competition allowed students and employees of leading technical universities, scientific organizations and business schools to bring innovative ideas to the market.

The support of the Russian Venture Company (RVC), a strategic partner of the competition, also proves the seriousness of the intentions of Russian business to change the situation with risk capital for the better.

Another important part of the BIT is the presence of Americans in the jury. Not ordinary Americans, but representatives of the American community of venture investors. It's no secret that the American investment policy is better established than the Russian one. Thus, the Russian financial community in general and specific participants of the competition in particular will have the opportunity to improve their professional skills.

The contest itself is very liberal – the only way, without unnecessary restrictions, you can "provoke" gifted ideas not to lie in hidden computer folders. There are no age restrictions for participation in the BIT, no complicated application format. The main condition is one – the team leader applying for participation must represent an organization (university, scientific institute, commercial company).

Details are available on the contest website.
