Molecular biologists are invited to Vienna

Grants 2013 for postgraduate studies at the University of Vienna (Austria)

Max Ferdinand Perutz Laboratory of the University of Vienna (Max F. Perutz Laboratories, MFPL, University of Vienna) invites young specialists specializing in molecular biology and related disciplines to participate in the scholarship competition for postgraduate studies.

The program is open to specialists with a master's degree in biology, chemistry, and related disciplines, and students planning to receive a master's degree before April 2013, who have citizenship of the European Union or the following countries: Albania, Andorra, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia, Georgia, Iceland, Israel, Liechtenstein, Moldova, Monaco, Montenegro, Norway, Russia, San Marino, Serbia, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine.

Topics of dissertation research offered by the Laboratory:

  • Molecular Mechanisms of Cell Signaling
  • RNA Biology
  • Structure and Interaction of Biological Macromolecules
  • Chromosome Dynamics

The participants of the competition from non-European countries need to pass the GRE (Graduate Record Examinations) test, which will allow the commission to determine the selection of applications more precisely.

The deadline for submitting applications is September 16, 2012.

In early October, the MFPL will summarize the interim results of the competition and prepare a "short" list of candidates for the scholarship. By October 5, 2012, invitations to interviews will be sent to the shortlisted contestants.

The interview dates are November 19-22, 2012.
