OMICS 2015

The Skolkovo Foundation holds the OMICS 2015 competition
in the field of processing and analysis of "big data" in biomedicine

Over the past 10 years, the widespread use of "big data" has caused a technological revolution in biomedicine, including the development of new drugs, diagnostics, clinical trials and personalization of treatment. On the one hand, new analytical methods, known as "OmiX technologies" (primarily DNA and RNA sequencing), make it possible to produce an unprecedented amount of molecular data for each patient. On the other hand, the introduction of electronic medical records, powerful imaging systems and physiological monitoring has created a telemedicine market.

This competition is a joint project of two adjacent clusters of BMT and IT and EMC on the selection of innovative projects in the field of processing and analysis of Big Data in biomedicine and the creation of products and services based on them.

Directions of project selection:

  • OmiX diagnostic test;
  • databases and analytical solutions for translational and personalized medicine;
  • algorithms and software for sequencing and analysis of nucleic acids;
  • new algorithms, software and hardware, as well as information systems for storing and processing Omix data;
  • bioinformatics.

The project is suitable for the competition if it:

  • innovative: the product or service is quite different from its analogues;
  • aimed at commercialization;
  • it is at any stage of development – an idea, development or first sales.

Deadlines:

  • Collection of applications for participation in the selection – until June 20, 2015.
  • Stage 1. Examination of projects, selection of finalists: June 20 – July 10, 2015
  • Stage 3. Presentation of projects – July 18, 2015
  • Announcement of the selection results by the Organizers – no later than July 19, 2015.

Details are available on the Foundation's website.
