Alisher Usmanov promised to raffle 1 million rubles among startups every month

Entrepreneur Alisher Usmanov announced a startup competition, the best participants of which he promised to pay 1 million rubles. The selection of projects will take place in the entrepreneur's community in VKontakte, where he held a meme contest.

To participate, you must send a description of the project being developed to the personal messages of the Usmanov Challenge community. The rules of the competition state that applications will be considered personally by Usmanov. At the end of each month, the entrepreneur will choose the best team and pay her 1 million rubles. The most attractive works will also be published on the community wall.

Right now I would like to continue to support talents in the vastness of the network, so I am announcing a startup competition. Everyone will be able to submit their projects for consideration and public discussion. The best at the end of the month will receive one million rubles free of charge.

Authors of any projects can apply, but preference is given to a project with a real working prototype. Under what conditions payments will be made, the rules do not say. The organizers of the contest only noted that there are no restrictions on age or citizenship for participants.

At the end of 2017, Usmanov will select one team from among the winners and discuss with it the possibility of further investments. The entrepreneur did not specify which startups he is interested in. In April 2017, Usmanov said that he no longer plans to invest in the technology sector because it is "overheated" and the cost of projects in this sector is overstated.

The portfolio of Usmanov's assets includes the mining and metal enterprise Metalloinvest, an Internet company Mail.Ru Group, which owns the social networks VKontakte and Odnoklassniki, the mobile operator Megafon and other companies. Megafon has owned 63.8% of the voting (15.2% of the capital) since February 2017 Mail.Ru Group.

Initially, Usmanov used the community to hold a meme contest dedicated to his public correspondence dispute with opposition politician Alexei Navalny over the investigative film "He's not Dimon to you." The entrepreneur awarded the authors of the best works with iPhone 7 Plus smartphones.
