Travel grants for young people: from Siberia with love

The Mikhail Prokhorov Foundation announces an open charity competition to finance travel grants for students and postgraduates. The Academic Mobility program of the Mikhail Prokhorov Foundation provides grants (scholarships) for training, internships and participation in scientific conferences and seminars for students, postgraduates and young teachers (under the age of 35). The program finances academic mobility mainly on the territory of Russia and is carried out during an ongoing open competition for participants living and studying in the Ural, Siberian and Far Eastern Federal Districts.

DEADLINE FOR SUBMITTING APPLICATIONS:From 01.02.2009 to 01.03.2009 – for trips in April, May, June

From 01.04.2009 to 01.05.2009 – for trips in July, August, September, October 
From 01.09.2009 to 01.10.2009 – for trips in November, December 2009, January 2010.
From 01.11.2009 to 01.12.2009 – for trips in February, March 2010)

THE TOTAL GRANT FUND OF THE COMPETITION IS 3,000,000 RUBLES.
THE MAXIMUM AMOUNT OF REQUESTED SUPPORT IS 100,000 RUBLES.

CANDIDATES CAN TAKE PART IN THE COMPETITION:1. permanently residing in the territory of the Russian Federation;

2. having a diploma of higher education or a student (postgraduate) ticket at the time of application;
3. having confirmation from the university about the need for a trip (internship, participation in a conference, etc.).

CANDIDATES CANNOT TAKE PART IN THE COMPETITION:1. having a PhD or PhD degree.


THE SELECTION CRITERIA ARE:1. academic achievements of candidates;

2. the expediency of the trip (internship), which is determined by the nature of the candidate's research and confirmed by letters of support from the supervisor from the relevant university.

OBJECTIVES OF THE COMPETITION:1. The competition is aimed at equalizing the educational opportunities of representatives of different strata of society and different areas of residence.


2. The competition supports young researchers and teachers who objectively need to expand scientific and educational contacts, to get acquainted with modern research and educational practices.

TERMS OF THE COMPETITIONThe program finances short internships, participation in seminars and conferences, as well as trips involving work in archives and other information centers.
The maximum duration of the trip should not be more than 2 weeks.

The amount of the grant is determined individually depending on the place, academic program and duration of the trip and includes tuition, accommodation, travel to and from the place of study, medical insurance, as well as (if reasonably necessary) funds for the purchase of scientific literature.

The maximum grant amount is 100,000 rubles.

SELECTION OF PARTICIPANTSThe selection of participants of the program is carried out on the basis of an open competition, in which everyone who meets the formal criteria for candidates for a grant can take part.


All contestants must submit a completed set of documents to the Program office in the period after the opening and before the end date of the next Program competition.

Applications for the competition, issued in accordance with the Regulations, are accepted in hard copy (1 copy) with the mandatory provision of an electronic copy on any medium (before the specified time) at the following addresses:

Applications received later than the specified deadline will not be considered.

Information about the financing of the project from sources other than the Mikhail Prokhorov Foundation must be documented.
Information about the applicant's partners who ensure the implementation of the project should be provided in the form of letters of guarantee and agreements of intent.

All projects are reviewed by the Foundation's Expert Council. The reasons for rejecting applications are not reported, applications are not reviewed, materials submitted for the competition are not returned.
For the winners of the competition, in all materials on the project (presentations, audio, video, printed materials), a link to the support of the Mikhail Prokhorov Foundation is welcome.
