Smart millionaires

In the Samara region, the II All-Russian competition "Smart Guy to start", held in the sanatorium "Volga Cliff" from September 26 to October 1, has ended.

187 young scientists from 35 regions of Russia defended their innovative projects. As a result, 60 people became finalists, each of whom received a diploma and 1 million rubles for the development of their own business.

Recall that such a competition among young talents was held in Russia for the second time (last year it was held in Seliger). Initially, it was supposed to select the 50 best projects for state support of R&D and the creation of small innovative enterprises in various fields of production. But as a result, instead of 50 finalists, 60 young scientists from 32 regions of Russia became winners. State funding for each winning project amounted to 1 million rubles, with the possibility of increasing funding to 11 million rubles over three years.

The event was organized by the Foundation for Assistance to the Development of Small Forms of Enterprises in the Scientific and Technical Sphere together with the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, the Government of the Samara Region and with the support of JSC "Russian Venture Company".

Young scientists competed in five areas:

H1 – Information technologies, software products and telecommunication systems.Of the 45 projects considered by the competition commission, 14 were recognized as winners. The chairman of the commission, Director of the Technology Transfer Center of Penza State University, Professor, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences Ivan Urnev described all the submitted projects as deeply developed, and the winners are quite commercializable and necessary for the country's economy.

H2 – Medicine, pharmacology, biotechnology for medicine.Out of 20 projects, 7 were recognized as winners.

"Some of the winning projects are a new word in pharmacology and biotechnology" – this is how the chairman of the competition commission, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor Lyudmila Kuzyakova, deputy of the Duma of the Stavropol Territory, assessed the winners' works.

H3 – Chemistry, chemical technologies, new materials, construction.Of the 31 projects, 11 were declared winners.

The chairman of the competition commission of the direction, head of the Department of "Technologies of Organic and Petrochemical Synthesis" of the Samara State Technical University, Professor Svetlana Livanova expressed confidence that in the near future, thanks to the winning works, the country's economy will receive new fabrics, new production of chemical materials.

H4 – Electronics, instrumentation, mechanical engineering.Out of 70 projects, 20 were declared winners.

According to the chairman of the competition commission, vice-rector for scientific and innovative work of the Altai State Technical University named after I.I. Polzunov, Professor Andrey Maksimenko, about 70% of the winners of the direction are candidates of sciences. Therefore, all the projects that won the competition are innovative and competitive.

H5 – Biotechnology, agriculture, food industry.Of the 21 projects, 8 were declared winners. The Chairman of the competition commission, the rector of the Samara State Agricultural Academy, Professor Vladimir Milyutkin expressed confidence that the winners' projects are a breakthrough in the field of biotechnology and the food industry.
