"Eternal scalpel" from Mordovia became interested in Skolkovo
The joint project of the Mordovia Nanocenter and the TECHNOSPARK Nanotechnology Center — "Technology of carbon coating on medical instruments" took first place in the All-Russian innovation competition "Startup Tour" in the Moscow region and received an invitation to an out-of-competition presentation at the international scientific conference "Startup Village" in the Skolkovo innograd on June 2-3, 2015.
In addition, the project received a grant of 1 million rubles. from the "Fund for the Promotion of Small Forms of Enterprises in the Scientific and Technical Field" (Bortnik Foundation) and a certificate for participation in the final of the competition "Young Innovator of the Year 2015".

Firstly, it is a chance to find investors and companies interested in our products, secondly, it is an opportunity to receive additional financing, and most importantly, it is a great opportunity to announce your product on the international arena," said Igor Belashov, CEO of Skaltek LLC.
The joint venture of LLC "Scaltek" is developing an innovative scalpel with a carbon coating, and at the moment the development team is working out the optimal ways of coating on an industrial scale.
The essence of the idea is to apply a diamond-like coating on the edge of the blade of a surgical scalpel. The new coating will make the scalpel more durable, less rough, and as a result, the period of postoperative rehabilitation of patients will be reduced, which makes treatment less painful. The application of such a coating makes medical instruments several times better than existing samples.

The main areas of application of new instruments: plastic and maxillofacial surgery. It is worth noting that a product with such a coating and such properties is not currently represented on the world market.
