Injection film from Fujifilm

Microneedle matrices developed by Fujifilm,
they will allow you to make injections completely painless

DailyTechInfo based on FarEastGizmos materials:
Fujifilm micro-needle array delivers the drug into the body just by attaching it onto the skinA big exception is people who do not feel even a little fear of the needle about to plunge into the body of a medical syringe.

It is because of this fear that numerous vaccinations and injections become a psychological blow for children, sometimes quite severe. To solve this problem, researchers are trying to invent new methods of painless injections and similar procedures. And one of these new methods of drug administration are microneedle matrices developed by Fujifilm specialists, with which you can make a painless injection by simply applying an injection film to the surface of human skin with some effort.

Fujifilm injection film is a base made of plastic polymer material. On this film, with the help of technologies once used for the production of photosensitive photographic materials, tiny capsules containing a drug ending in sharp needles are made. Depending on the type and required dose of the drug, the size of the capsules and the distance between these capsules, in fact, micro-syringes, varies from 100 to 2000 micrometers.

When the injection film is applied to the skin with some pressure, the needles of the capsules penetrate through the upper layer of the skin and the contents of the capsules are injected into the patient's body. The penetration of many thinnest needles does not cause such painful sensations as the penetration of one thick needle. In addition, the distribution of the administered drug over a relatively large area in some cases increases the effectiveness of its effects.

As mentioned above, for the production of injection films, Fujifilm uses proven and time-tested high-precision technologies used for the production of photographic films. This, in turn, means that it is not difficult for interested organizations to arrange the production of such films with needles of the desired length and shape, with capsules filled with all kinds of vaccines, medicinal and hormonal preparations.

Studies of the new technology conducted on animals have shown that in most cases the effect of the introduction of vaccines using an injection film is slightly higher than from the introduction of the same vaccine using traditional methods. And a little later, Fujifilm is going to conduct clinical trials of a new injection method with the involvement of human volunteers.
