Representatives of the American company Synchron announced that for the first time in the history of the United States, they implanted a human brain-computer interface Stentrode. The operation was performed in New York, and the patient was a man who suffers from severe paralysis. According to experts, now a man will be able to communicate with friends and family using gadgets, buy goods in online stores, use e-mail, send messages, etc. However, before this, the patient will have to learn how to control the implanted interface with the power of thought.

The implantation operation was minimally invasive and consisted of the following: the Stentrode interface was inserted into the motor cortex of the patient's brain through the jugular vein — and after two days the man was sent home. Synchron employees believe that in the future they will be able to help millions of people who are unable to use digital devices with their hands, and thereby change many lives.
Previously, brain-computer interfaces were implanted in Synchron to four patients from Australia. But it turned out to be more difficult to do the same in the USA because of stricter laws. As a result, the company received the right to clinical trials of Stentrode only a year ago. By the way, Synchron's main competitor, Elon Musk's startup Neuralink, has not yet received such a right.
