Stop the transfer of Hospital No. 31

Stop the transfer of Hospital No. 31 to the Supreme and Arbitration Court

The unique St. Petersburg hospital, where dozens of terminally ill children are cared for every year, has become the object of the claims of the most wealthy Russian officials – federal judges. City Hospital No. 31 is planned to be disbanded in order to serve the needs of the judicial corps of the Supreme and Supreme Arbitration Courts of Russia on its basis.

Most recently, the hospital was renovated, new equipment was delivered.

The 31st hospital became famous not only for its highly qualified staff, but also for its competent work with charitable organizations. Private foundations pay the lion's share of parents' expenses for expensive operations, helping poor residents of St. Petersburg to nurse terminally ill children.

The hospital treats and helps not only children, but also pensioners, war veterans.

Head of the Department of Pediatric Oncology and Hematology of the City Hospital No. 31 Margarita Belogurova:
"Every year about a hundred children get cancer in St. Petersburg, half of them are treated with us. For ten years, we have achieved a reduction in mortality from 75% to 25%, we have several completely unique departments, well-trained doctors, and a developed system of benefactors. I think that the people who decided to disband our hospital think that this is a simple procedure – how to move the bed. But this is not so, if the hospital is disbanded, the unique technology of treating children will be destroyed, the most valuable personnel and connections will be lost. I really hope that the federal authorities will hear us and change their decision."

Parents refuse to believe that Russian officials can take away all this from sick children for the sake of their absurd whim:
"It's hard for me to believe that such cynicism is possible. Federal judges are rich people well embedded in the country's social services. They have everything, why do they take away from our children what little they still have left? Do the judges really need our hospital so much? Many parents now want decisive action, but we know that even if we peacefully go to the square, we will be arrested for an unauthorized rally. But we will still protest, because we cannot take away hope from children. And this hospital is the last chance for many children, including my son Kirill. If the hospital is closed, I will have to sell the apartment to cure my son, but I have two more children, where will we live? The state almost does not help, and now it also prevents our children from surviving," says Oleg Kostin, a St. Petersburg engineer, the father of 14–year-old Kirill.

We demand to stop the transfer of the hospital to the service of the Supreme and Supreme Arbitration Courts. We demand a full stop. The disbandment of the hospital – namely, the distribution of departments to different hospitals in St. Petersburg - is also unacceptable, since in this case the most important thing will be destroyed – the integrity, team and well–functioning of the hospital. These factors allowed and still allow to cure a large number of people and provide quick and timely assistance.

We appeal to the humanity of the head of the Department of Affairs of President Kozhin and Governor Poltavchenko and demand to cancel the decision.
