Once again about the benefits of family life

Married people are less likely to die in middle age

Yuri Shustov, Medlinks based on Natural News (Married people are less likely to die in middle age – VM).

It is widely known that married people on average live longer than those who have failed to find a permanent partner in their lives. A new study by scientists from the United States once again confirmed this fact, adding another nuance to it – it turns out that such people are also less likely to die young, in particular, at the age of 50.

The researchers analyzed information on 4,802 randomly selected people born in North Carolina in 1940. Doctors have studied the data on the relative marital status of people during their lives. They also took into account the difference in socio-economic status, craving for risky behavior and the general characteristics of a person's personality. Scientists tried to exclude all possible side factors that could affect the statistical error.

They found that people who had never been married or had not been married were on average twice as likely to die in middle age, compared to those who had been in a stable marriage throughout their lives. At the same time, people who lost their partner but did not remarry were also significantly more likely to die prematurely than those who were in a long-term marriage.

Loss refers to both divorce and the death of a partner. At the same time, scientists have established that a strong marriage is the key to a better socio-economic location of a person in society. All other things being equal, a person feels more confident, earns more money and achieves great success in career terms. The final statistics could also be influenced by the fact that married people on average were 1.5 times less likely to have harmful addictions – to alcohol, smoking, drugs, and so on.
