Six reasons to stop working in the office

Why it's time for you to finally decide on a free schedule

"Newspaper.Ru" has found several scientific confirmations of your assumptions and concerns. You're right: going to the office every day is very bad for you, and you really need to stop doing it. And here's why.

1. You sit all dayEveryone knows that sitting all day is harmful, but evolutionary biologist Olivia Judson, as well as many of her colleagues (especially doctors) are sure that it's not just harmful, it kills you.

Even if you exercise every day (and you don't), you still have a much higher risk of developing bone diseases, cancer, diabetes and obesity than a person who is not immobilized for eight hours a day.

If you can't quit office work right at this moment, at least stop sitting so stubbornly on a chair all day. Make it a rule to get up at least every 40 minutes.

Of course, it is impossible to keep track of the time until the evening, but you can, for example, decide that you will get up after every thing done.

Go for tea, ask a question to a colleague who is sitting as far away from you as possible, or — even if there is absolutely no reason to get up — just get up. Take a walk. Don't think that everyone will think that you are strange. You're not weird. They're the weird ones.

2. You are forced to participate in team buildingScientists at the State University of New York have come to an interesting conclusion: the more a company conducts all sorts of team building, motivational exercises, or somehow tries to make employees love their work and be happy, the more unhappy they become.

It turned out that all this newfangled team building leads to one thing: a person begins to think more about the shortcomings of his work and falls into a severe depression. Conversely, the less time a person physically spends in the office, the more he likes his work, the better he thinks about himself and the happier he feels.

3. You breathe bad airAnother problem of office work is bad air.

Firstly, with working air conditioning systems, the office air is on average 100 times drier than what is outside the window. This can lead to a large number of chronic lung diseases. In addition, you exchange bacteria with colleagues and all together breathe dust, mold and, who knows what else, flying in this stale air.

The obvious solution would be to open the window, but with our climate this is not always possible, and an eternal war begins between those who want fresh air and those who are blown.

Not to mention those of us who work in popular open offices, sit somewhere in the center of the room and get to the window like to the subway - five minutes on foot.

4. You are too close to the copier and printerAustralian physicists from the Queensland Institute of Technology (Queensland Institute of Technology), led by Lidia Morawska, conducted an interesting study and found out that the concentration of harmful substances in rooms where there are printers and copiers is on average 10 times higher than in the air outside.

The fact is that some printers release ozone, dioxides and the smallest particles of paint into the air. And employees inhale all this, which can lead to the development of various lung diseases. Stay away from all this technology.

5. You recycleA study recently published in the European Heart Journal claims that people who work 10 hours a day or more (and after all, when you go to the office, you manage to limit yourself to an eight-hour working day very infrequently), the risk of dying from a heart attack increases by 60%.

Moreover, this figure does not change, even if you regularly exercise. Work, especially the one that you need to go to every day, is very harmful to health.

You will say that unemployment is also not that useful, but why go to extremes.

Just decide for yourself: you live to work, or you work to live. And by the way, do not forget that at the end of life no one regrets that he did not work hard enough.

6. Are you boredScientists at University College London have found out that, it turns out, being bored is deadly dangerous.

You know this state when there is no special work, but you can't leave earlier, because it's not customary in your office, and you sit out hours, dying of boredom to such an extent that even Facebook is not happy.

And it also happens (and often) that your work itself is so boring and joyless that you never feel happy on it all day, but at least satisfied. In general, all these conditions, according to scientists, have a very bad effect on your life expectancy.

The more bored you are, the strangely less you will live. So stop all this. It's time to radically change your life!
