A vegan should be in jail!
A 12-year-old Scottish woman, put on a strict vegetarian diet by her parents, was hospitalized with a severe bone development disorder. Her spine is similar to the spine of an 80-year-old old woman, Times Online reports.
The girl's parents excluded meat and dairy products from her diet from birth. Due to the lack of vitamin D contained in the liver, fish and dairy products, the child developed a severe form of rickets, which led to bone degeneration and, as a result, a tendency to fractures and curvature of the spine.
The girl's attending physician Faisal Ahmed from the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Glasgow refused to comment on this case, noting, however, the danger of a strict vegetarian diet for children's health.
Currently, social workers are investigating whether child abuse is taking place here.
This is not the first case. For example, last year in the United States, a vegetarian couple was sentenced to life imprisonment for bringing their six-week-old child to starvation.
