Another attack on caries

The keep32 molecule removes the cause of caries in a minute

MEDdailyChilean scientists have identified a molecule that kills bacteria that cause tooth decay.

According to I Love Chile (Chilean Scientists Discover Solution to Cavities), Jose Cordova, an employee of Yale University, together with Erich Astudillo from the University of Santiago, began their research on dental health back in 2005.

The result of many years of work was the discovery of the keep32 molecule. ("Save 32", and 32 of what, guess for yourself – VM. :) It destroys Streptococcus Mutans in just 60 seconds. Now scientists want to get a patent for their molecule in the United States to begin its active introduction on the market.

According to them, the molecule can be added to pastes, chewing gum, mouthwash, candy. In general, in any product that a person holds in his mouth for at least a minute. However, experts have yet to finish testing the molecule on humans.

Scientists complain about the lack of funding in Chile. After a number of unsuccessful attempts to find an investor in the country, they joined forces with the Foundation Institute in order to improve the business model and reach the international level. The inventors hope to sell the patent to large companies like Colgate or P&G.
