BIORAN will build a biotechnological plant in Pushchino

At the annual meeting of shareholders of JSC BIORAN, held at the end of April, Pharmadule AB (Sweden), the world's leading supplier of advanced modular production facilities for biotechnology and pharmaceuticals, was selected for the design and construction of the main production facility.

BIORAN plans to build a biotechnological plant in Pushchino, Moscow region, by 2011, which will meet modern technologies capable of producing a wide range of genetically engineered drugs, including those based on mammalian cell cultures.

This project will allow more than 50% to meet Russia's need for insulin, as well as reduce the country's dependence on imports of other genetically engineered products.

It should be recalled that BIORAN has been working on the creation of the enterprise since June 2006 with the support of the Government of the Moscow Region and the Russian Academy of Sciences. Technology for the production of genetically engineered human insulin, developed by the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry. Academicians M.M. Shemyakin and Yu.A. Ovchinnikov of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IBH RAS) were transferred to the company under a license agreement.
